LoL EarthBound: 2014 vs 2016

Mato found a gem while looking through old emails recently. It’s a mockup of what we thought the EarthBound Legends of Localization book would look like:

The name of this file was “open zine copy.png”. lmao, we thought it’d be small enough to be a zine! For those who don’t know/remember, LoL EB was funded as a stretch goal during Fangamer’s You Are Now EarthBound Kickstarter in October 2014. And two years later, when the actual LoL EB book was released, it looked a damn sight more impressive than the mockup:

And a “zine” it is not. At over 400 pages, I hope the EB book stays our biggest book. I don’t want to go any higher pleeeease!

Special Mention in a New Book

A new book from Prima Games gives a special shoutout to Legends of Localization! It’s called Playing with Super Power: Nintendo Super NES Classics, and Fangamer got a copy of the super cool collector’s edition:

It goes in-depth on some of the most popular SNES games, including Zelda, the Marios, the Star Foxes (yeah, Star Fox 2!), aaaaand EarthBound. It’s full of facts, little-known trivia, development stories, tips from speedrunners, and even some amazing fan art! This is an incredible labor of love.

And hey, look look!

That 400-page book is us! 😀 And I can tell from reading the section on EarthBound that they got some of the information from the EB LoL book. That’s a major goal for our books, to be used as a reliable resource for stuff like this. Hooray! 😀

If you want this dang cool book, I definitely recommend the collector’s edition. Pick one up here!

Special Book Signing

Back when the EarthBound LoL book was first released, we offered to sign books if people asked. I liked to do personalized messages and one person used that to dare me into signing a piece of toilet paper rather than the book itself. Well I managed to sign the toilet paper after some trial and error learning.

Unfortunately it’s not as feasible to do personalized messages anymore. You can still get a signed copy of our books but they probably won’t have anything more than just our autographs and tiny drawings of things.

Legends of Localization Prizes at SGDQ!

Summer Games Done Quick is live riiiiight now! Legends of Localization’s entire anthology is up for grabs as prizes throughout the event:

Watch the stream here and keep an eye out for the LoL prizes. And speaking of SGDQ, Fangamer has a fun new crop of GDQ products available to buy right now!

All profits from the sales of GDQ merchandise goes straight to Doctors Without Boarders. So not only will you be getting some cool stuff, you’ll also be helping people in need. So, buy somethin’ will ya? It’s for charity!

LoL Corner in the Fangamer Office

Tucked away in the corner of Fangamer’s photo studio / archive room is the Legends of Localization corner (in that cabinet).

It’s usually filled to the brim when we’re working on a big book project, but right now it’s pretty tame inside~

You can see there’s some leftover EarthBound stuff that I still need to return to their owners!
